The Fairs and Festivals in San Andres Island are held around its typical products and are a true reflection of the local culture and cuisine, surrounded by a colorful environment.
The afrocaribbean music appears on stage to pay tribute to the roots of the island. Some groups come from Africa and others from different parts of the Caribbean. Some of the most important festivals are:
Caribbean evenings
La Fundación Casa de la Cultura (house of culture foundation) of North End offers every two weeks, “Caribbean Evenings” at the Salon del Mar. Typical dances, demonstration instruments of the island of San Andres, musical groups and presentation of the gastronomy of the Island are the attractions of these evenings.
Bill & Mary Festival
Each October, during the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the music festival is held in honor of Bill and Mary, with the participation of amateur soloists.
Sea Week
Annually, coinciding with the national festivities of Colombia, on 20th of July, we celebrate the Sea Week. The city is decorated with multiple shapes with symbols of the sea in every corner of the island and the music band of the National Army takes the island with his music.
Crab Festival
The Crab Festival is a traditional celebration of San Andres, where the locals prepare various dishes based on crab, like carimañolas, rice with crab, cakes, pastries and snacks. However, any festival in San Andres is not complete without music and typical dances of the Island
